Middle East and North Africa

The Middle East and North Africa region raised $25 billion, or 9 percent, of total developing country value from 87 transactions. Egypt led with over $10 billion, largely from transactions in the finance and competitive sectors. 2006 was a peak year for the region, accounting for nearly half of total value since 2000. Telecommunications dominated the region during the survey period, accounting for 60 percent of total regional values.
